HETEL has presented its experience on Internationalization over the last years in the Congress “Basque Vocational Training Open to the World” in San Sebastian
The 4th of February 2009, Amaia Guijarro, in charge of International Relations within the Association, has presented HETEL´s experience on Internationalization over the past few years in the Congress “Basque Vocational Training Open to the World”. The Congress has been organised by the Viceministry for Vocational Training and Lifelong Learning of the Department of Education of the Basque Government.
HETEL´s work as regards internationalisation has increased largely during the last 8 years: from mobility of a few students abroad to around 200 students in work placements in enterprises of other European countries. Lately HETEL has started a collaboration with two other Networks of VET Schools, the Dutch Alliance from the Netherlands and The Salpaus Further Education Network of Finnish VET Schools. They intend to foster together a process of mutual learning through a Community of practice, which has been supported by a Leonardo Partnership project.
Amaia said HETEL and its Schools were very thankful to various institutions for their help which has made possible this internationalisation programme. She underlined though that there is still a lot of work to be done in order to upgrade the international profile of VET technicians. “Don´t be afraid, go abroad and learn from everything that surrounds you” was the motto she finish her speech with.
